I know, I know. Really, I do. The market is flooded with shitty survival games as it is, high on promises, low on delivery, and the vey last thing we can trust are the promises of Russian developers *cough*SirgayTitov*cough*, but, have a watch, and see if you get just a little bit excited.
Yea, it looks fucking stunning, but bear in mind it is pre-alpha, and no doubt scripted to the shit house inside a an area smaller than a CoD map. I can't but be reminded of games like STALKER and Metro 2033. These little gems of Soviet creation, gems that shined in the rough because their developers had a love and dedication to creating it. They lasted through sequels and modifications years later. Just what if, this could be the STALKER online to silence all wana-be-devhacks that never deliver? Could this be the start of great things, or another great con for the western masses, and eastern ones to boot.
They've begun a fortnightly developer diary, and yes, it does contain the typical rhetoric of developers and their propaganda towards making the game all it can be, the love of the game, yada yada. But when you look at their team, of what, 5 guys, can they deliver on these promises of playable alpha within this year? Better yet, could we see a functional beta by 2017?
Are we seeing an actual representation of gameplay, or merely a Alien Colonial Marine, bait and switch graphical tactic? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z2qVebxlUo
Wetting your appetite, have a read of what they plan to do through the FAQs, and so far, the English section of the forums receives replies quite often.
So, too early, or go in at the deep end. For me, I'm sorely tempted to delve into it, but fuck me if I ain't shy after being bitten more than twice. *looks at WarZ, DayZ, so on*
